About Us
The Rock Away Cancer Foundation™ is a non-profit organization in Phoenix, Arizona that produces benefit concerts and other music related local events to help raise awareness and financial support for the fight against cancer. Simply saying that this disease has touched many of our lives is a gross understatement, and the struggle to find a cure still continues. Chances are you know someone, or maybe have a family member, or perhaps even you, have had to deal with the physical and emotional toll cancer takes on it's victims, families, and friends. RACF founders, Chris and Lindsay Bezile, lost their step-father in August of 2001, and then lost their dad in February of 2007. The death of someone so close changes the way a person views the world, and life is very different when they're gone. The loss of any life is tragic and difficult, especially from a terminal illness, and it's important that we have the support of family and friends to help us get through our grief. We must become stronger people. We must remember our loved ones, and try to make a positive impact on the world we live in despite what has happened.
It's been said that "music is the soundtrack to our lives." That may sound cheesy, but it's certainly no understatement. Music can lift you up when you're down, make you laugh, and make you cry. Music can help you through the tough times, and remind you of the good ones. You remember those favorite blasts from the past, and love discovering something new. Music is an amazing friend you can count on. The two men mentioned above were both avid, accomplished musicians. They lived, loved, and breathed music their entire lives. Consequently, it was a huge part of the family's life as well. Any day, every day there was music being played or listened to, taught or analyzed, and very much enjoyed. Fortunately, these lessons, passion, and love for music were passed down to their children. And that, along with the help of some close friends, is how the Rock Away Cancer Foundation™ came into being.
The RACF believes there is a beautiful, unbreakable connection between life and music. And with that in mind we choose to celebrate the lives of those who have won their battle against cancer, and especially honor those who we have lost.
